The First Vegetable of the Week...

The Artichoke. Just the name conjures ideas of suffocation and the plant looks sharp and thirstily. In contrast to the deadly form seen on the produce aisles, Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artichoke) shows the plant has a beautiful purple flower. Purple foods must be good. My wife bought a can of artichoke crowns. Who knew vegetables recognized the monarchy?
